Wells Fargo – Internet Services Group deploys Internet Banking Portal   

Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) is a diversified financial services company providing banking, insurance, investments, mortgage and consumer finance. Headquartered in San Francisco Wells has over $1.2 trillion in assets, 22,000 store and ATMs in operation and ranks 4th in total assets.

Situation

 The Wells Fargo’s Internet Services Group (ISG) was in need of a customer facing Portal solution that would allow them to send real time “Debit Card Alerts” to provide online alert notifications and support fraud detection / prevention in real time. The solution would also provide customer views to various financial summaries and detailed reports that were being generated by internal banking groups, supported by multiple legacy applications and sent out via US postal mail at a significant cost.

A key goal was to ensure users would have the ability to receive and view alerts and up to date financial content such as banking news, and reports via the Portal solution.  In order to maintain regulatory compliance, Wells Fargo’s ISG needed to ensure all content updates be reviewed and approved by executives prior to publication.

Solution

SharePointAce designed a “Debit Card Alert Notification” solution and deployed to a Web based publishing Portal complete with customer Login, custom views, templates, customer selected financial reports and summary pie charts. To meet the necessary features and functionality requirements SharePointAce worked closely with Wells Fargo internet banking line of business stakeholders and executive teams to define and design the solution, we:

• Defined requirements, and design for and implemented a “Debit Card Alert Notifications” Web based solution
• Deployed a formal Web Content Management review, approve, publishing model
• Configured Services to pulls customer financial details from legacy system databases
• Produced standard templates to publish key financial report views from results set  
• Configured content review / approval / publish workflows for all content types 
• Designed portal with goal of empowering Wells customers to self serve and manage their own financial content, receive real time alert notifications and actively participate in fraud detection and prevention.   

Benefits

With the new Portal in place, all business customers now have a single source for financial alert notification and financial reports.  By having reports automatically published by background applications that produce a customer financial view results set, customers are able to focus on more critical fraud detection and prevention tasks.  Overall, fraud was decreased across the customer base.
